Digital Citizenship
The days of once-a-year internet safety assemblies are over. To adequately prepare our students to live and succeed in our modern world, we need to help them develop Digital Citizenship skills that they use every day.
Digital Citizenship is not just another thing, but rather is already built into the Utah state core standards in a variety of content areas:
- K-12 ELA Standards (Reading, Writing, & Speaking & Listening)
- K-12 Science Standards (Science and Engineering Practice: Obtaining, evaluating, and communicating information)
- K-12 Mathematical Practices (Standards 2, 3, & 5)
- K-5 and 6-12 Computer Science Standards (Impacts of Computing)
- K-5 and 6-12 Library Media Standards (Information & Research, and Media Literacy)
ISTE also has a set of standards specifically for digital citizenship for students.
