JSD Innovation Lab

We are so excited you are interested in coming on a field trip to the JSD Innovation Lab! The Innovation Lab is an immersive, project-based field trip for grades 4-6. Students will use content learned in your classroom to create stop motion animation, 3D prints, or construct cardboard creations.

You will get to choose ONE project you would like your students to work on. Projects will be guided and supported by the Innovation Lab teacher. You will be assisting the Lab teacher with classroom management and possibly running a group. You will need to provide FOUR-FIVE chaperones to help guide students through projects.
The classroom teacher is responsible for providing the content for the project. Content can include Social Studies, ELA, Science, or Math or any mix you might think of. Please make sure that you have thoroughly taught whatever content your project will be based on before you come to the lab. The Field Trip Idea guide an help you think of projects to create with your class.

Only ONE class may visit the Innovation Lab at a time.

Don't forget to go over the expectations for the outcome of your student projects before visiting the lab. If you are doing a project based on the Mormon Pioneer Trail, what should students focus on? How many events should they highlight, etc.?
Field trips run Monday-Thursday from 10 am to 12:30 pm. The Innovation Lab is housed at Juniper Elementary. The Lab manager will contact you to set up your field trip.

2026-2027 Field Trip sign ups start in August 2026!
